      forgotten

An ancient grave
on a barren hill
of crawling shadows,
by this road
no longer traveled...

A leaning stone
in fading script
admonishes simply …
poet, romantic, fool
of no great matter.

This is very melancholic and poignantly rendered, dear Bruce. It's not a projection of your sadness I hope.

And though I will admit that poets can be fools, I would never think that any poetic thoughts might be considered "of no great matter". Even a tiny thought wrapped in poetic words can change the world.

Love,
Margherita

Though those stones speak volumes, those who listen and interpret the message in their own way.

Most of the poets I know are romantic but few are fools  and many poets have, indeed, changed the world (maybe the universe) with their words.

I like poetry that I don't have to close my eyes to see...that which rolls off the panorama of a sigh...sighing deeply to give my heart's eye time to focus...very well done...excellent write
