I am a wandering nightlight

I wonder if I shall ever alight
I hear the songs a rainbow sings
I see a rainbow of love auras
I want a peaceful mother earth
I am a wandering nightlight

I pretend that darkness hides from me
I feel the oceans caress the sands of time
I touch each grain of life on earth
I worry that time shall slip through my open fingertips
I cry that I will not shine forever
I am a wandering nightlight

I understand change is inevitable
I say life evolves without my conscious input
I dream someday all people shall be free of hate
I try to make the world a pleasant home
I hope I have made someone happy

I am a wandering nightlight

thank you again, Ringo

***and this from 2007, Patricia’s challenge:

I am sassy.

I am from rock gardens and olive trees,
near boulders thrusting from endless seas,
orchards and vines that stretch for miles
shaking quaking undulating valleys
'neath purple mountains of majesty.

I am the seed of a talk-back tree,
whose branches and leaves scream
"Don't tread on me!"

Though too many branches have broken
'neath the weight of world sorrows,
the seeds have been plentiful,
and solid bedrock nurtures.

I am from rock gardens and olive trees,
born to protect silent wildflowers
seeking shelter and shade
from a sweltering sun
and the raging seas.

I am sassy.

I know you're sassy! But you need to know you bring a lot of happiness to my life too.

You will shine forever.

You're a beauty queen and an inspiration, and you inspire so much in me--especially gratitude that I am so fortunate as to know you, if only through your words.

Prepare yourself, I'm about to say thank you, yet again.

I remember the second and re-lived the wonderful emotions of the first time reading.

And I deeply enjoyed the first, it touches the heart with its deep consciousness of life and love.

Just wonderful are these gifts from you, dear Kacy, thank you!

Love and hugs.

Thank you so much, Margherita, for reading and commenting.
Maybe there will be a new I AM write, but it hasn't fallen onto my word-path yet.

Kacy, I knew that I would adore this ~ because I adore you! If more people were like You ARE, planet Earth would outshine the brightest star in our galaxy!

Actually, I got to read two I AMs for the price of one! lol

I thoroughly enjoyed each one of them!

You ARE a wandering nightlight and you will live on forever as you live now, with your gift of words.

I'll tell you something else you are: a true child of the earth. A caring kindness simply oozes from these poems, and warming they are to read.

Thanking each of you for taking a moment to read and comment.

After working in the garden all day and getting a ton of dirt underneath my fingernails,
the next "I AM" should be:

"I am a dirty old lady!"

Kacy,

How beautiful.  I think you are also waves of Aurora that sing when the rest of the night is quiet.  You are poetry.  You are beauty.  You are friend.  And yep, you sure are sassy!

Love,
A

Kacy, I loved the first one (especially the line about people not hating any more - and FYI, you make EVERYONE happy!), but I double-loved the second one.

I loved all the replies, but ESPECIALLY loved Alison's.  You both have such a wonderful Alaskan bond.  I enjoy it every time I come across it.

My laptop and ADSL router were hit by lightning the Saturday before last and I only got it sorted out finally tonight.  I popped a note into Discussions.

It is GREAAAAAAAAAAAT to be back online, and esPECially here!

Wow...you ladies put a smile of joy on my face!

I love each one of you, and am so lucky to have been given the opportunity to know you in poetic friendship.

I am....grateful,
for the moments we spend together.

I love reading these "I AM" poems and have since the first ones I read ( and participated in) years ago.  It allows us to see more in depth to those poets who step up to the plate and you didn't disappoint at all.  It was a sheer pleasure to read BOTH.  Well done.

effective 'write' ...

I think the ending is particularly fine!:

I am the seed of a talk-back tree,
whose branches and leaves scream
"Don't tread on me!"

Though too many branches have broken
'neath the weight of world sorrows,
the seeds have been plentiful,
and solid bedrock nurtures.

I am from rock gardens and olive trees,
born to protect silent wildflowers
seeking shelter and shade
from a sweltering sun
and the raging seas(!)

much applause for this 'penning' !!
