Love is just an accident no surgery can fix
and medication merely numbs
its sheer intensity
and indeed I take my daily dose
like you, and you, and them
unknowingly to procreate
a flow of ignorance.

The flow is fast, invincible, and unstoppable
and pummels at the truth like a tsunami
designed and made to suit
individual temperaments.

My tsunami is my look away,
my turn on heel, my shrug,
and my immersion in
the vat of transience.

Delicious, so delectable,
the need and strive to be
plain and simply unworthy
of love’s lift up and let down
into meadows of the beautiful.

But I will smell the flowers,
pick petals “love me/not”
and serenely smile at every tree,
every twig, leaf, memory,
for that in case you didn’t know,
is the sure and undeniable …
result of accidents!

Oh dear heart--this was written by one who knows the pain.

You've just got to decide if it's worth it, to do it again.

(I'm a romantic, so you know what I'm pullin' for...)

and yep, "just an accident"

It really does happen that way.

I loved this poem completely by accident

In such an ugly time, beauty is the real protest

Love is just an accident no surgery can fix
and medication merely numbs
its sheer intensity

And yet... to avoid such accidents is to never really live. *S* Enjoyed this very much!!

Hi, Honey!

I simply adore the following stanza ~

"But I will smell the flowers,
pick petals “love me/not”
and serenely smile at every tree,
every twig, leaf, memory,"

LOVE IT

Love,

well said!

the first line certainly 'pegs it' :

"Love is just an accident no surgery can fix(!)"

I am particularly fond of the line about:

"...immersion in
(a) vat of transience"

serious applause for this 'penning' !!

Thank you all dear poet friends for your comments.  I think about love with a mind perhaps not developed enough to fully understand it.  The sad thing is that I know that mind never will.  The "other" mind, however, knows all about it and we talk sometimes, you know.  Yeah, it's called "imagination" by those who do not know.

Dear Helen, don't ever lose your imagination

for while your mind is clear you can enjoy

all sorts of wonderful things and I wish you good luck. Love.

Though I think it is a gift that we receive as a birthright, we really perceive it sometimes as an accident. Yet, heavens plan beautiful things!

Synchronicity would be the peak of that happening.

You wrote this so well, it captivates the reader powerfully, dear Helen!

Rhythm and tune too are perfect!

Love and hugs.

I love the way your mind works and of course the way you always bring to us the pleasures of reading your works in such divine expressions.  Totally enjoyed from beginning to end.

Thank you Lindsay, Kaoru and dear Margherita.  Indeed love is our birthright but not many claim it and if they do, it's just the glitter and not the substance.  It's not our fault really because we don't generally know any better.

Thank you, Mark.  My mind?  Yes, someone/something whispered that they like the mind I've now made to avoid the knowing and the loving.  We do what we must though to survive the ... "rough".
