Saluting with misty eyes

0 posted 2009-05-03 09:41 PM

Look at them all
Small-minded bitter people
Hanging out in dank, old-man bars,
Drinking from their mugs of sadness and failure
As life passes them by
Angered at the world that has forgotten them
Disputing the life they have led
Spewing hate towards the insanity
They see around them
Yet, not having the courage to take on
The sea of madness brought on by power
They complain that no one listens
No one wishes to do what is right
Somehow, no one hears them
As they refuse to get involved
To change their destiny
It is easier to shout at the rain
Than to buy a new umbrella to protect them
Or for you to look in the mirror
And see the solution staring back

But this one goes to eleven...

How about "Did You Vote?" - I like this, Ringo.  I so often find that people are bitter and complain - and then they never cast a vote in the elections.  We all have to participate to have a voice and make changes.

Thank you all...
I truly appreciate the suggestions, and as I am a complete coward, I am allowing my girlfriend to choose the title from the ones offered.

My ability to effectively title poems is pretty poor.  Please tell your girlfriend that I won't cry in my bitter beer (there's a title for you) when I don't get selected.  (grins) I do like the poem a lot.

I like your poem, too. You've done a good job here, Ringo.
How about: 'Just Another, Verbal Revolution'

How about "Waisted"
everything your poem is talking about,

I talked my friend out of going to the bar every night for one month and save what he would have spent on booze.
The next month he went and bought a new car.

They say that a good poet has good powers of observation! By this poem, I'd say the proof is in the pudding!
