Bones doesn’t need nor want your respect.

When you get right down to the nitty-gritty,
all Bones is really interested in is your money.

Don’t ask him how his mother is,
or what his father does for a living.

Even if Bones could give you
the positive answer,
and he can’t,
he won’t because
that’s none of your business.

Don’t pry,
or try to get insistent,
it will do you no good.

Bones is very much a closed book
full of secrets that he keeps to himself.

Bones feels it’s best that way.

Bobby

I've tried living that way for a long time Bobby. And it brought me much sorrow.

Without other people's understanding and love I'd be crushed.

Maybe Bones is just a stronger man than I am.

I think that Bones is just protecting himself from the nastiness that surrounds him. It is a survival instinct.

Thanks Suncleaver,

For your kind advice.  Bones is now 72 going on 100.  He still sticks to his philosophy.  In reality, he really tells too much.

He's much loved by his children, and his dog.

Thanks dear Linda,

For you kind take on this poem.

You are most likely correct.  Let's remember, that survival is a very good thing.  It can lead to old age and wisdom.

Bones must have good survival instincts, a lot of so-called lucky people don't make it to 72.

Thanks dear Ida,

For your kind words.  It's all due to a sparse diet, and lots of exercise.

As I read this, I recalled a line I read somewhere (brain's foggy this morning *S*)... "the less you know, the less you can hurt me"... Bones's secrets are really all he has that are his... he can give, but they can't be taken away. *S*

Bones is right.
No one needs to know but him. After all he's not into small talk.
Good one Bobby.

Thanks dear Suthern,

I never thought of it that way, but both things that you say about secrets is very true.
