Someone You Care For

I met her in a train station
in the early parts of a Sunday night
and she appeared to be such a delight
that I ask her if she'd have some tea with me.
"Of course" she said, but halfheartedly,
which led me to doubt her sincerity;
but tea we did share
in a little cafe
not far from there.
Over tea I sensed a troubled soul
and perhaps a broken heart,
so as she spoke
I searched within my heart
to find the words I could say
to help her pain soothe away,
but I couldn't find
the right words to say
so I simply took her
hand into my hand,
hoping that she would understand
that I had lost someone too.

Sinlence from an understanding and caring heart usually works better than mis guided words from one who doesn't relate.  I say you did quite well and I know you did with the write.  Enjoyed.

Nice indeed! Sometimes more than most, a hand to hold speaks the only words that can be spoken, and mean so much more. Wonderful read!

Yo James,

There is a good thought behind this nice poem.  You'd be surprised how many (most) people have lost someone.

Sometimes you don't have to say anything for someone to understand that you understand.

Nicely written.  I especially liked the rhythm and flow of your words.

Yup.  That's the best thing to do.  And I like your poem.

This is a great poetic piece to say you're there, when needed.
Good write.
