There lived a girl, within a dream.
She wore a dress of black and white.
Her eyes were red, her lips were chilling blue.

As I walked along a long forgotten path,
Through an ancient wood, I noticed her.
Standing in the shade of a tall white tree,
She waited for my arrival.

In reaching her, I asked what I was doing there.
Only to be answered with a mischievous smirk.
She then held out a pale white hand
And looked into my eyes.

I wasn’t sure what this gesture meant,
So I simply took her hand in mine.
Through that action, everything was explained to me.

She explained that not only was she a result of my insanity,
But she was the personification of my insanity.
And that the forest we were in, too, was my insanity.
Quickly, I pulled my hand away.

I felt that this was my chance.
My last chance to reclaim all of me that was sane.
I felt the sudden urge to slay her,
And tear down the world around me.

Maybe, then, I could free myself from this illusion.
But then she asked me, in a calm and subtle voice,

“Do you earnestly want to destroy this world?
Cast it into the void, thus it never be seen again?”
I looked to the ground, in front of my feet,
And thought about the words just spoken.

“You and this world are not real,
So surely ridding myself of them both should do no harm.”, I replied,
In hopes of justifying my feelings.

“Perhaps this world is not real to anyone else…
But as for you, we are all you have.”

“If I destroy you, and this world you created,
I can return to the realm where I began.”

“Do you honestly believe that to be true?
Will there really be another realm waiting for you?”

“I’m sure that it is there, I’ve lived there for many seasons.
I’ve breathed the air of that world, seen the sky and the grass,
And I have felt pain. I know it is there, waiting for me.”

“You have lived there, just as you have lived here.
You have breathed the air there just as you breathe the air here.
You have seen the sky and grass there…
Just as you see them here, now.
Here, too, you can feel pain.”

“Are you implying… That this world, too, is real?”

“Is that it? Is that really It?”

“No… You’re implying that just like this world…
The other world is a result of my insanity…”

“I’m impressed… You understand quickly.
So now do you see? I am everywhere and everything you perceive.”

“Everything…”

“So, I ask you once more… Do you truly want to destroy me?”

“I don’t want to be alone. You’re all I have… I can’t…”

“Very good… It would have only been self destruction. I am you, also.”

“So did you create me, or did I create you?”

“Simultaneous existence.”

“So what created you and I?”

“It was nothing.”

“Nothing…”

With that being said, we turned away from one another.
I walked back down the path, and she stood by the tall white tree.
I can’t remember how the dream ended.
Or when it ended.
Or if it ever ended at all.

This is an intriguing dream.  Like waking up while still asleep.

"“So what created you and I?”

“It was nothing.”"

~ Can something be created out of 'nothing'?  As they say, "God only knows". lol
