.

If God came down
and told me I had
no more than five years to live
I’d quit my job, (which is the
best I’ve ever had), in the morning

I’d go fishing
write poems
and go out
for at least
one more dive alone

I would lie in my bed
and read books
that are of no interest
to most or anyone else

And if that wasn’t considered
productive in any sense
as might be transferred as value
to someone else
I wouldn’t care less

If you’re willing to die my death
I’ll let you determine some part of my life
Otherwise buzz off

.

John,

Very wise poem.

Everyone dies a little bit every day.

I'm afraid you're on your own with the dying thing.

I've rather got my hands full dying my own death.

I can not die
your death
for you
but
I would give
you
one day
of my life
to live another
day of yours

I like this very much... I think I'd choose many of those same activities. *S*

I too would do the same things.

I find it sad that we think about all the things we'd do if we knew we were going to die, but we all will die eventually...and that sense of eventuality stops us from living life to the fullest.

Nicely written!
