             No one

On this soft spring evening
of astonishing serenity,
the past is viewed only
as in pale moonlight
through old glass
and phantasmic memories
ringing with overwhelming
   melancholy
through a wasted heart
and disconsolate spirit...
eternally forsaken
by all love and compassion.

Starts out really nice
then ends up really sad

I like it.

Extreme melancholy, finely contrasted against
"soft spring evening
of astonishing serenity".

Dear Bruce, you explore the very depth of melancholy here, but I am glad you perceived the serenity too. Balance is what we need.

Beautiful!

Love,
Margherita

Thoughtfully worded from just that place in the heart.
