I wonder if it matters-
Where you’ve been, or what you’ve done,
Who will hate, or who will miss you,
When you’ve made your final run?

All the pathways you’ve not taken,
Nor the sunsets you’ve not seen…
Nor the friends that you’ve forsaken,
What, if anything, they mean?

Childhood memories have faded-
Growing dim, with passing years.
And the fires of youthful passions-
Oft are drowned by grown-up tears-

And the funerals attended-
Sad goodbyes that you have said-
And the sighs, and those, “If only’s…”
We have murmured o’er the dead.

Does it matter? Does it really?
If it does, then we should learn-
To express our real affections-
While the flame of life does burn.

"Does It Really Matter? I wonder how many people have asked that question down through the ages. I think it must matter if we care enough to ask. Enjoyed your wisdom.

Awww this is a beautiful poem
I particularly liked this stanza
........
Childhood memories have faded-
Growing dim, with passing years.
And the fires of youthful passions-
Oft are drowned by grown-up tears-
.......

This is an excellent example of fine writing..

I've got a few regrets and things unsaid

Does it matter? Does it really?
If it does, then we should learn-
To express our real affections-
While the flame of life does burn.

As always, perfect meter and thought-provoking, with that gripping emotional hook.  You really know how to write.

Yes, it matters to me and yes, I agree.  We should take the time now to express these things that matter to us.

I am a fan.
