                    BETRAYED
                       By Billie Cullimore

My master took me to the groomer
I'm as mad as I can be.
They shaved all my lovely fur off.
Didn't bother to even ask me.

I thought I was going for a joy ride.
A run in the park, you see.
Maybe a splash in the kiddy pond,
And a tasty treat there'd be.

Stopping by a strange house, I knew
           Something was terribly wrong.
I didn't like the smell of this.
The joy of the ride was gone.

I didn't care if there was burrs in my fur
Or a knotted lump or two.
I didn't ask them to take it out.
I wouldn't do that to you.

I never did like the looks of her.
The lady with the razor in her hand.
Now, I'm sitting here all naked.
My fur's in the garbage can.

Billie - It's a dog's life but somebody's gotta live it, especially when your fur is gone and you don't know if you've been labelled naked or homeless. Tight story and well written. Namyh

I remember growing up when we would shave the dogs and they would run around looking embarrased.  I felt bad for them.

It was funnier when we shaved the cat.
But the mohawk on the hampser was the best.

I had to have one of my cats shaved once. Now that's even more awful for a cat. All of his cheeks were pink.

Funny indeed however cats and dogs have been killed for fur which is totally unacceptable. Lucky this kitty survived if not for the fur atleast she lives.

Oh, poor little (middle-sized or big) darling, beautiful, clever, precious sweetie-pie!  Please give him/her lots and lots of love, hugs, cuddles and kisses from Auntie Di, a South African owl.
