                RUGGED ELEGANCE
                   By Billie Cullimore

He stands tall, the man in the Stetson hat.
The look in his eye says he knows where it's at.
A confidence there for the work he performs,
This is the task for which he was born.

Roping and sorting and branding cattle,
Knowing that life is one long battle.
He's reckless and daring, laughing and curt.
Beneath this facade, he hides all the hurt.

He loves the outdoors, this man of the west
The desert, the rivers, the mountains best.
And cares for the creatures, great and small.
Knowing that God, created it all.

Is he a "Cow boy?" Of course..
Look at the way he Straddles a horse.
Rides with the wind, the rain and thunder
Hoping that fate don't throw him asunder.

He's a visual man who takes things in stride.
Looks at his world with a great deal of pride.
He's admired, respected, loved by his peers.
The arrogant manner helps hide the tears.

The Stetson is cocked on his head at a tilt.
Only to accent a fabulous build.
The blue jeans fit tight to show every line.
Someday, God, please let him be mine.

Yo dear Billie,

This is very nice.  You would probably like some of our urban cowboys here in the hood.

This is a really good poem,  You paint a picture well in words, and finish it with a hopeful wish.

Very nice.

Thank you all so much and thank you Linda for the picture, I could not have found a better one.  My dad was a cowboy, born and reared on a large cattle ranch in Huntville, Utah.  Now some of my grandsons have followed along. Thanks again.
