when I write a poem
nothing happens.
Earth does not shake,
walls do not come down,
people still breathe the same
air they would if never
pushed this ink around.
I just used an approximate rhyme
and now I'm breaking line structure for no reason at all because what does this matter?
I shoot blanks at targets,
and so do you.

Needs an I in there somewhere.

I've been shooting blanks for years, but the wife says it's better than a hysterectomy for her.

a the reply from our critical mass poet

Guess we all have our share of 'blanks' that make little no impact.

Lovely Joe... I'm smiling here... somehow I don't think you could ever shoot blanks... your poetry is too good for that

Wonderful to read you again

I'm with Kacy!

and I'll leave it to you decide which witch is which! (I have my suspicions she's on top, tho...) Nod. She can whup me.

I shoot blanks all the time--fortunately for mah poor head.

Although I can't interview dead poets, I suspect that they wrote poetry because they simply could not NOT write poetry.

I appreciate this'n, muchly.

That's what's keeping the poetry light...

Joe Houck - not sure about this one, there are emotions involved when writing, or readin. At least in my opinion...
