Seen through this looking glass can one help but feel small
When the hunters and gatherers drew that first scene
Given pause to reflect on the scope of it all
Was a record begun manifest in our genes

When the hunters and gatherers drew that first scene
Spurring man to use language as just one more tool
Was a record begun manifest in our genes
Bringing science and art and pure logic to rule

Spurring man to use language as just one more tool
Epic poems, masters' thoughts on the known universe
Bringing science and art and pure logic to rule
Came to be that such truths found a way to disperse

Epic poems, masters thoughts on the known universe
'til today, not from dust but particulate, sand
Came to be that such truths found a way to disperse
That our followers see what is wrought by our hands

'til today, not from dust but particulate, sand
Here repose all great works on one vast cyber-slate
That our followers see what is wrought by our hands
What is time but a means that all things culminate

Here repose all great works on one vast cyber-slate
Given pause to reflect on the scope of it all
What is time but a means that all things culminate
Seen through this looking glass can one help but feel small

Perhaps not small, but betrayed.
Art could have been the salvation of man, but science, I fear, will be his downfall.
The root? That first, unnatural understanding that one day, we will die.

Mysteria,
Thanks. I began with the premise that much of what is written today could not possibly have been written before, as certain things written about simply did not exist prior to this time. The structure of the pantoum seemed to lend itself well to expressing that theme. Thanks again,
Doc

EA,
Thank you, I'm glad you think so. I'd have to say this is one of my more philosophical ramblings, lol.
Doc

Osprey,
Thanks for the read & reply, I believe that there can be much beauty in science as well as much ugliness in art.  As a race, we are at this point the culmination of everything that has gone before. The darkness as well as the light. Where it will lead is beyond my comprehension.

Excellent writing.

These are tricky to have them make sense.

Cheers.
