Waking in your arms
Exhilarated
Euphoric
Exhausted

Forever changed,
I was woman
Seeing the world
Through new eyes

Finding that miracles
Weren’t only for others,
Feeling magic bathe me
With each touch

I admitted love
Wasn’t merely myth

If I had known
How pain would sear
That empty
Would evolve
And fill my future

I would not change
One moment
You were within
My embrace

I’d still have danced
Arms open wide
Through storm’s epicenter
Calling the clouds,
Inviting

sizzle

Beautiful, Ruth!  I am so happy for your happiness and so sad for your sadness.

Yo dear Suthern,

There you go Hon.  That's the attitude I like to see.  You have the right idea.

Yes, there's nothing like that magic at first. One can't really explain it although we all try.
I know where you're coming from with this and you've penned it so very well.

DS: Thank you, my friend... I'm glad you liked! *S*

Owl: You dear... *S* Opting for safe would probably be more sane. *S* But... to have great joy? *S* I'll pay the piper... even if I whine with every cent paid. LOL Thank you so much! *S*

Bobby: Thank you very much! *S*

ethome: We have to try... if only to remind ourselves it once existed and might again. *S* Thank you so much! *S*

Lovely write, Ruth.  It's nice to know that those who have "danced" are happy that they did regardless of the outcome.  I waiver between happy and sad with regard to my own life but the pendulum hasn't stopped swinging yet - not yet sure where it will stop.

Enjoyed your write!

When there is lightning like this, you can feel the electricity, you feel alive.
Sometimes it is a pleasure to live in the storm.
You describe it well.

there is a "magical" quality to this that makes it even more enjoyable...really found this captivating:

"If I had known
How pain would sear
That empty
Would evolve
And fill my future

I would not change
One moment
You were within
My embrace"

Those who never have it are poorer for their safety.  Very nicely worded.  I especially like the last stanza.

Honeybunch: I hope your pendulum swings merrily for a long time! *S* And I used to doubt the truth of it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all... not anymore. *S* Thank you! *S*

BC: And I thank you very much, my friend! *S*

SEA: I'm glad... thank you! *S*

Chalmette Guy: Yes... that's it... feeling alive... even if the rest of life is merely existing. *S* Thank you very much! *S*

JM: Thank you! *S*

steavenr: Thank you so much! *S* And thank you for choosing those lines... they're the heart of it all. *S*

Pilgrimage: That they are... though it takes a bit of distance from the pain to remember that fact. *S* Thank you! *S*

Marchmadness: Thank you so much... I'm glad you liked! *S*

Your sizzle seared me.  I am so glad I am wandering a bit and reading.  If I had missed this - the loss would have been mine.  That's for sure, sizzling one.

What's that they say? 'Better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved'.
Your poem embraces that remark.
Yes, I agree, the passion is worth the pain and emptiness. A fine, courageous and honest write.
