                  THE CYNIC
                     By Billie Cullimore

A negative word from a nasty tongue
               Nobody wants to hear.
When you find fault with all you know
It just simply falls on deaf ears.

The Cynic can only see a wretched world.
Filled with fault, hate and fear.
Self pity seems to consume the mind.
           And won't let contentment near.

A negative heart is a lonly heart.
A smile they may never see.
God's gifts of flowers, birds and song.
Were given to us all for free.

They never see the bright side,
Or delight in children at play.
Negative seems to be their guide.
That keeps all friends at bay.

So, come with me.  See the other side.
              Folks worse off than you.
A mother beside a little grave.
Or a broken home or two.

           Soldiers on the battle field.
           Children in filth and despair.
           Don't feel sorry for yourself,
Unless forced to accept their fare.

My heart go's out to the Cynic.
Who's sun never seems to shine.
They need to walk in a cripples shoes
Or stumble along with the blind.

           You can't enjoy the sunshine.
Or bask in a warm spring rain.
To never know a lovers kiss,
Must fill your heart with pain.

Stop for a moment, and take a deep look
At the person you have become.
      A hateful, complaining, negative wretch,
Or a friend we would like to take home.

I know a lot of people like this, you describe here so well.
I think everyone should read this and take a good look at themselves.

Well done.

Approaching the world with a warm smile can work wonders. Be gentle with those perpetual cynics, they are a bit tweaked.

Yo BillieC,

You did good work on this.

Talking about someone that does the opposite, the Neighborhood Scoop Ice Cream parlor just opened up for the summer season tonight.  It's right on the corner of my street.  It's a delight to have it open every summer season in our poor urban hood.  They are really nice people, and they keep the prices reasonable so a kid can get some ice cream every once in a while.

Love Bobby

Thanks to all of you for reading my work.

Billie - a negative person is no fun to be around. Some I believe is ok, but not most every word. You said it well...

I don't think of myself as a cynic, but I certainly need to lift my head up more...

Well said! *S*
