Soliloquy of Sound

a blank document lays there
where music should have been
the edges of my fingers trembled
closed my eyes to hear the sound
another time and a distant place
I had once held a shell to my ear
stirred not shaken was the passion
the tender waves of the ocean glide
a love affair of sea and the shore
fingers were touched by the keys
and there in black and white again
salty color softly licked the sand
I wondered would you play me first
and answer me in a shelled echoed
sound

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."
— Joni Mitchell

I was picked up on the shore
by a woman with slender ways
she held me to her ear--I roared
and prayed she'd hear my waves

I swore

I would not be negligant
and oh my she was elegant--
she held me to her ear and heard
my whisperings of sand kernals...

one by one to make a dune
rattling my cage's tune

building waves upon the beach
where our love, it usedta be

before the tide was yorn.

?

Love you.

the give and take of the great sea
plays the background to your words of loves echo

Water has always been me....the ocean pulled me from childhood..

The beach is my home, even when I am not there.

All that to emphasize the depth of my love for this, your water words.

I closed my eyes just to savor your images... this is magnificent!!

I love serenity's response, too... such a double poetic gift is headed straight for my library!! *S*
