                     WORDS
                       By Billie Cullimore

When God put Adam and Eve here
He gave them speech of tongue.
He gave them many words to use
             So they could understand.

             On down through the ages
            Man have talked with words.
           They can describe each object.
            Each animal, plant and bird.

They are handed down from every faith.
             Religion, race  and man.
             Hebrew, Greek and Latin.
            Since long the world began.

Words tell us of lifes heroes,
          Each battle, feud and fight.
The "Good Book" has so many words,
            That teaches man the right.

Each book is full of words to use.
              Some we use each day.
           Some we've never heard before.
And others who have gone before now,
                Have passed away.

Speeches and poems are composed of words.
              Some are famous yet.
         From Shakespear to Ben Franklin.
            And folks we've never met.

           Lincoln said some mighty words,
           That set man thinking strong.
Noble men have said great words.
To help us right our wrong.

Yes, the world is full of people.
And so it is full of words.
To use in all our talking.
              And complementary verse.

But, there is one phrase most precious,
I'm sure you'll agree 'tis true.
That the greatest word was spoken
           When my baby said "A-Goo."

Billie - words have many different meanings when said in different tones. But A-goo is precious for sure...

I love your poem, Billie... but I couldn't help laughing at the ending... not because I disagree... but because my youngest nephew first said that word to ME... and I got stuck with it as a nickname! (My sister SAYS she thought he was trying to say Aunt Ruth... considering some of the nicknames she gives that nickname, I have to wonder if she was just getting me back for some of the names I've used on her. LOL) He's 10 now and rather proud to have renamed me... and I'm an even bigger sucker for those eyes he turns on me than I was then, so it works. *G*

Beautiful write of love! *S*

Thanks to all of you.  With every baby, no matter how many, that first word is so wonderful, just to know that they acknowledge you and it is almost always accompanied with a smile.
