I contemplate going home
while the whole town sleeps,
leave this place with its cattle
grazing slow while the deer leaps
fences while I talk to Jesus,
seems He's quite in the know,
asking if there's a way home again,
and if He said yes, would I go?

James Taylor playin' on the radio,
windows open to a cool evening breeze,
barefoot and in a tank top
with a little suntan on my knees
and miles on my toes,
ain't that the way it goes?
I figure I might rest awhile
because I like the way the creek flows.

Never seen a sky like this,
never felt the air so crisp.

I s'pose as long as Jesus is around,
wherever you are is where home is found

even if it is just a one-horse town.

"I figure I might rest awhile
because I like the way the creek flows."

Enjoy the creek and the open space.
A one-horse-town sounds mellow, a place where one can think.

thanks for the comments, all

yes, it is serene here, and the creek is beautiful...

it flows right over the road we use to go out to the main road...we have to walk in water to get to the mailbox. No bridge there, just a concrete slab that is wearing away fast. The highest I've seen the water on that slab is about 4 inches and it flows pretty quick down huge rocks and boulders into the winding creek bed behind mom's house.

Maybe I can take pics one day. I know I will miss it when I'm gone.

You are always so very thoughtful Poet, and I would encourage those close talks as you meditate.  I've come to know home is always where one is...carried on the inside, not the outside.  Enjoyed this peace of the creek.  Watch carefully, as it seems your answer is right in front of you.

Home is not where you've lived before or your current address... it's whereever your heart finds contentment, my friend... I hope you find that where you stand.

From the sound of this, you'll be at home anywhere because it's in your heart.  You have learned to appreciate the little things in life and know Jesus is there for you.  That's what I call contentment, peace and security.  Thanks for sharing this gem with us.

God bless,

That town sounds really peaceful and relaxing.
I don't think I'd want to be running to the other side of the mountain too quickly.

Your spiritual side is showing in this, maybe you wouldn't find that elsewhere.

I really enjoyed the descriptions in this.

I am with the others that stated it sounds like a nice peaceful place to be.  I don't know that I would want to leave too soon.  Enjoyed this slice of your life.  Nicely written.
