Under Veil

Remembering a time
when the heart skipped a beat-
intimate thoughts
under veil of defeat.

A challenge each day
when keyed to a heart-
romantic in dreams
with "if onlys" to start.

Raindrops still dancing
showering the mind -
with you-thoughts of then
framed in yesterday's find.

Flirting with time
and a thirst for the new -
from the window in tracing
the aloneness of two.

What a beautiful, pensive write! *S* I know those "if only"s so well... you've penned them perfectly.

Maureen

This is very touching and sad. I have read your works for many years and have perceived the inner lonliness that has developed in your soul.
I know you are strong and I think it's built on such loyalty that most can't imagine maintaining.
Whatever the reason it creates a beauty in words like expressed this piece. It may not be the way you wanted to develop this writing but it's life isn't.
Sometimes we can live together yet apart, with only the memories of the good times left.

"Flirting with time
and a thirst for the new -"

This I hope you find, this you deserve.

Take care

Thank you Kacy. It was pouring and  I actually love rainy day rememberings.

Bruce, I know it doesn't help to think about what ifs, but sometimes quiet moments allow those to come to mind. Thanks for the visit.

Hope, sometimes the if onlys are what helps one get through the day.

Suthern, thank you. Hoping these days are much smoother for you.

AW...it's nice when those if onlys become "today's find". Thank you.

E, I love rainy days, in fact my craft business was/is called "Rainy Days 'n Mondays". The loneliness will probably always be there now. The loss of what once was in marriage and my Father and sister  and favorite Aunt's deaths make it hard to not feel lonely when they were the ones I spent most time with and could share feelings with.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and understanding of the situation in which I now live.
"Sometimes we can live together yet apart, with only the memories of the good times left."...exactly.

hugging you in friendship and understanding always~~

critical mass, Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

BC, as always, thank you.

Sue,  I guess many of us on here have memories that  come alive every now and then. hugs and thanks.

noah j, glad you stopped by and enjoyed a few of my thoughts.

JamesM, thanks, always.

Maureen,

This is among my favorites of yours.  Rainy days always touch me and bring on the memories and quiet times.
