.

Under the gaze
Of Mount Fuji

A barrel bridge
In winter

The snow is white
On her straw umbrella

That man in a hurry
Has absolutely
No interest in her

Ah
Ono no Komachi

How much
Things have changed

ah yes … the classical Japanese Heian Waka!...

she wrote transience and solitude oh so well:

“This abandoned house …

  how many nights
  has autumn spent there”

“While watching
the long rains falling on this world
  my heart, too, fades
  with the unseen color
  of the spring flowers.”

“To think at last
I'll be a mere haze
pale green over the fields.”

mighty fine 'write,' John!

MUCH (sustained) applause for this 'penning' !!

John,

Things really haven't changed that much in 1200+ years.  That's my opinion only.

This poem is well done.

Describing old prints seems to be your forte, John. And the poet you chose wrote many fine lines. It's hard to imagine someone not acknowledging her.
