There she sits upon the shelf untouched.
Behind glass doors of the china hutch.
Her crystal blue eyes adorn her porcelain face.
Dressed in silk and satin and Venetian Lace.

No little hands will brush her hair.
Nor precious secrets will she share.
Upon a pedestal she will remain
Like a princess, to fulfill her reign.

While here I lay upon the bed.
Dressed in patches of gingham red.
Attending tea parties and dragged through the park.
Held tight by a child, afraid of the dark.

No beauty does my face behold.
But love's been given ten times fold.
Though picturesque you stand, complete with parasol.
I am so glad, that I am just an old rag doll.

This is so sad and yet touching.
I liked reading it.
Sort of like a movie in my mind.

If dolls could stick out their tongues, I bet they would.

This is very tender.
Quite liked this one,  You are on a roll.

Love, Tracey.

Delightful! You made me feel sorry for the one behind the glass.

Eloise,

I love this poem.  It reminded me of my Raggedy Anne & Andy dolls which still sit on my dresser.  They are truly raggedy now, but they are loved.  They traveled across the US, to Puerto Rico and back to Alaska with me when I traveled with my family as a little girl.

Thank you for remembering the rag dolls.

Alison
