I walked over to the pond today,
across the creek and up the hill,
and I sat down beside a turtle
to think of how I might be still

and if life could follow will.

The lonely old creature went in his shell
but I still talked to him kind,
asked him to come out and play
and leave his inhibitions behind

we all have places we are blind.

Then I began to sing a song
soft and full of light,
and that turtle followed me along
as if he was in great delight

I suppose he'd seen the time was right.

So that's my nature story
in a moment that I was weak,
friends are found on every road,
out there across the creek.

If I'm still, I find what I seek.

Contentment.

Sweet poem.

Have to love the unexpected and the joy a turtle brings.

A wonderfully uplifting write, Dixie, with excellent imagery and an enjoyable   'conversational' tone. Turtles are totally cool.

friends are found on every road,

Yes... *S* They are! *S* I'm glad you found both elements of your title. *S*

Dixie, this is simply delightful. It's as if I had been sitting close to you and listened to your song together with the turtle.

Love,

best of luck on that contentment 'seek'!

"if life could follow will(!)" ...

yes, if only!! ...

love the image of:

"song(s)
soft and full of light(!)"

applause for this 'natural (spring) moments' impression!!

I have to admit that I was intrigued by your title. I ADORE turtles!

What better place to find contentment than in nature?

Very peaceful.
