I am filled no more with doubt,
It is stored away in file
Years have passed since my first pout
Yet I've hardly cracked an honest smile

But I've held and soldiered on
Hardly stopping for a look
I have never gone along
since I buried myself in books

It was a mistake, as always
To think that I, alone
could do it my way
and happily walk on

Note: My very first!

I'm well acquainted with this same mistake... and keep making it! *S* I liked this very much... welcome to Passions!

Diego,

I wish my first was as good as yours.  I am suffering from "first" envy.  Thank you for sharing this.

Happily walk on

I think the moral of the story, or final line, makes for a wonderful title to this poem..

Well done,
