Couple Walking in Sunset Pictures, Images and Photos

Slave to a Memory

Onward down this path we go,
Changing our directions always,
Even though we know,
Mystery lies ahead,
Each curve something new,

Then suddenly out of the blue,
True beauty unfolds before our eyes,
The road can be long,
Like life it-self, never ending, stretching,

Can it be wrong to want to explore?
Do we follow or lead?
The unknown can be frightning,
It's easy to feel the need to be cautious,
Should we be afraid?

Our minds wander, wonder,
But the beauty,
Have we made the right choice after all?
Or will the vision deceive?

A thought clouds the mind,
Do we believe the pain will return?
Should we be brave?
The past lingers, haunting,

It's easy to be a Slave to a Memory

The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.

Yes... it is. *S* And though the shackles may feel tender around our ankles, our feet can't shuffle forward... even when to stand still is to starve. *S*

I really like this... really know this! *S*

Aw, yes, those memories that can still haunt us can be like wearing boots of cement that can prevent us from moving forward into unkinown territory.

It takes a brave heart to venture forth and not allow the past to impinge on our future. Ofttimes, our courage is rewarded in the most glorious of ways!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments,

All stories should have a happy ending,
Look for next installment to follow.

Tracey, I am going to repost my take on what a memory is, since this poem reminded me of a poem I wrote. Wouldn't it be nice if all stories had a happy ending?

WTBAKELAR - I believe to be brave, memories linger, but they do fade...
