In distant lands there once did dwell,
A captured princess all forlorn,
In hidden towers locked away,
From eyes of man both dusk’til dawn.
Her beauty captivated men,
Her radiance so pure,
And many souls did lose their life,
Their hearts beat life no more,
Battling through forests dark,
Through monsters in enchanted woods,
But non could save the princess
Though toil and give his blood.
‘Til one find day a handsome prince
cried out the forests name,
“This story is but make belief
And this is just a game!”
And with his words those monsters died
And the prince made for his love,
No more enchanted forests,
Scarred by another’s blood.
So on he rode upon his horse,
So gallant, tall and white,
But when he came upon the towers,
No princess was in site.
And to a broken man that day,
A wise old owl did call,
“Well that goes for your princess too!
She isn’t real at all!”
So sadly went the handsome prince
Back to another time,
The land where all good tales breathe life;
It is, within my mind.

Welcome to PiP Illusiveangel.

And yes, your poem raises the very pertinent point in that when we shed our belief in evil we must also shed our belief in good and accept the oblivion of the between.

Sometimes it's worth braving the forest eyes and horrors of the night for the angelic princess, isn't it?

With love, Luke.

Never sigh for a better world, it's already composed, played and told.
