sometimes we would lean into the wells of morning
pressed together like fingers into the blue
that was still black in places from the night

as if we were worshiping some invisible god there
or each other jack and jilling our imagination
like it was smoe hill we needed to be on top of

to see where we had been walking our love shoes
and how their footprints seemed to know the way
even though we struggled and pretended we didn't

I would spend time naming your freckles and pores
and you said I should sleep more for later on
when I would need all my strength to keep you quiet

as if either one of us really wanted you that way

This was great!  It made one want to read and want more and you captured that with the rest of the poem.

Thanks for sharing Dark Stranger!

Your wells of morning sound really enchanting ... you take your time and that's a main ingredient of love's success.

D,

A pen would be nice - to write secret messages in the most intimate places.

I am spending today reading your poetry.  It's a bright, daark Sunday.
