Ye all know 'bout St. Paddy here
'n how 'e roused the snakes
but did ye know our Balladeer
supplied the hoes and rakes
to all the townsfolk on that day
they sent those beasties fleein'
he run the village blacksmith shop
back then they called 'im Ian

Now Ian weren't no Balladeer
just some poor Irish lad
he dinna know but common words
an' few o' them, 'twas sad
an' pro'bly woulda' stayed that way
but not for Dr. Moose
who took to schooling that young lad
about the wee folks juice

The wee folks's got these stills y' see
fer brewing up some stuff
the likes o' which ye'll not believe
'twill knock you on your duff
well Doc gave some to Ian
as he forged them hoes an' rakes
an' that lad spouted poetry
like good ol' Willie Shakes

Now to this day ol' Ian
they been callin' Balladeer
His poetry's quite pleasin'to
a somewhat well trained ear
but this be my a'tellin so
no blarney will I spread
since 'e's been known as Balladeer
it's gone straight to 'is 'ead

So if ya see ol' Balladeer
on this ST. Paddys' day
just call 'im Ian once fer me
an' then quick run away
for he may be a poet now
at long last goodness sakes
but watch out 'cuz he's apt t'chase
ya with them hoes and rakes

Ah the lilt of the old sod.  I'll raise a jar to Ian, and one for Dr. Moose himself.

Well, Doctor Moose can spin a yarn
And tell a thoughty tale
And he be known for sharpened wit
To please folks without fail
But he leaves out a fact or two
Whenever  it may please
Some say it comes too much malt
Or some unknown disease.

I always been the poet type
'ave  been that way since birth.
Been spinnin' tales ever since
I set foot on this earth.
When I came out me mamma's crack
I was  a special mick.
First words that came out of me mouth?
An Irish limerick!

I spin the tales of Irish lore
Of leprechauns and gold.
The Emerald Isle abounds with
All the stories that i've told.
The blarney stone gives ME a kiss
Whenever  I stop by
And more than one young Irish lass
Has given me the eye.

Well, Dr. Moose came by one day
With Bushnell's in his sack.
He's had an envy burn inside
His heart from way, way back.
He thought that, if he got me soused,
And have me play the fool
Then HE would be the Irishman
The students read in school.

But that scheme did a double-flip.
The liquor spurred me on
And Irish hills were smilin'
By the time that I was done.
My sweet verse  rose up to the sky
And wound  through hill and vale
And God himself declared no man
Could spin a finer tale.

Doc Moose? He fled to Scotland's shore.
His language was quite vile
And, to this day, you'll find no moose
Here on the Emerald Isle.
You'll see my name in Dublin town
In multi-colored neon.
Bright lights give praise to BALLADEER
(NOBODY calls me Ian)

This Irish lass has the urge ta plant a couple of big ones on the cheeks of both the Moose and the Deer! The "big ones" being buss-es ~ not bust-es. Hmmm, on second thought, the latter might be in order if my deer ersine friends would kiss and make up by raising a toast to the Fairy Land.

Cheers to two boobs with lots o' blarney!

Ol' Ian's been a troublin' case
The lad oft' gets confused
Believin' he's a balladeer
To keep 'imself amused
I'll not dispute I likes me malt
Been known to tip a few
But as for "some unknown disease"
I writes a poem or two

Delusions often manifest
Themselves in funny ways
The lad imagines he has been
A poet all his days
Sometimes it's best to humor 'im
A wee bit o' a while
The "Blarney's" not the only stones
Been on the Emerald Isle

While Ian's spinnin' tales tall
O' leprechauns and gold
I dare say there's another side
If I may be so bold
He thinks that all the Lassies be
A'givin' 'im the eye
That's what we call "transference" 'cuz
It's me not that poor guy

He dinna get me whiskey straight
"twas Jameson I swear
An fer as being envious
That's just so much hot air
But one thing that he did get right
Was 'bout those wee folks juice
A couple nips o' that me lads
And that boy just cut loose

His verses woulda' done Will proud
None finer 'ad been 'eard
Such flawless constructs 'e performed
By rote an' word fer word
Did bring a tear to many eyes
As dear ol' Danny Boy
An' so it is unto this day
We joust as we enjoy

The banter an' a friendly smack
upsides each others 'eads
So 'ere's to Ian, Balladeer
An' Michael Mack instead
O' brawlin' in the streets like thugs
To you I'll raise me glass
An' quickly dodge them hoes an' rakes
an' see ya back in class

Dear Ms Colleen O'shea.
Lol, thank you I accept your most gracious offer of either. Just trying to keep an old tradition alive, and having one heck of a lot of fun doing so.
