The little red coat
Pristine against a morose, morning sky,
Her daddy's far away;
Innocent a tiny child;
She doesn't ask him 'why?'
Seasons come and seasons go,
Time shows no mercy
As days become years.
The little red coat sits locked away,
Oblivious to a thousand tears

Oh, this tugs at my heartstrings ever so painfully!!

Very powerfully expressed.

I just read your poem three times. With each read, more tears welled in my eyes. I have just now been sitting here in silence and unable to key a response that truly expresses how deeply I was moved by this sad, unfortunate, scenario. You are a fine writer.

Love & a warm hug,
EA
