Hair Of The Leprechaun  (Pantoum)

Just once a year I drink green beer
With fuzzy little Leprechauns,
Spout risque limericks in their ear,
Pick four-leaf luck from neighbors lawns.

With fuzzy little Leprechauns
We sing that sad song "Danny-Boy",
Pick four-leaf luck from neighbors lawns.
Who scowl disgust with our annoy.

We sing that sad song "Danny-Boy"
To people passing on the street
Who scowl disgust with our annoy,
In nasty words I shant repeat.

To people passing on the street,
We hoist our beers and drink a toast.
In nasty words I shant repeat.
The last drunk standing makes his boast.

We hoist our beers and drink a toast,
Spout risque limericks in their ear.
The last drunk standing makes his boast,
"Just once a year I drink green beer".

Note: Every time I post this poem someone asks me why the Leprechauns are fuzzy......
If you drink too much green beer, everything is fuzzy. (chuckle)

I'm curious Turtle, is this a modified sonnet?  Or a combination of meter, repitition and rhyme more likened to a ballad? Or perhaps it is something completely different?  I noticed your use of repitition building on each preceeding stanza with the last stanza picking up L1 and L3 of S1 to bring a sense of closure.

It's a very nice piece and I just wanted to know how it came to be.

Thanks ~

A good pantoum is very difficult..you made it look easy. You must be an Irish turtle, for sure!

Thanks Balladeer,

That is a nice complement coming from a master

I call these and the Ballade "aspirin" poems. (chuckle)
