Forever In Your Heart

0 posted 2009-03-13 05:00 PM

The day started out bright,
but somehow turned gloomy,
radio played and I slowly drove,
as shadows of sun danced through trees,

I enjoy the long drives home,
gives me time to think and reflect,
deep thoughts of life and love,
until something breaks concentration.

Near the end of my long journey,
when the road narrowed down to two,
She sat there, unmoved, stoic,
my thoughts began to ponder,

I could see her face in the mirror,
as she sat far right, hugging the door,
it was an old rusty red ford truck,
beat up worn with years of wear and tear.

The character of her face resembled the truck,
a saddened frown, eyes of lost , dullness,
skin without shine, hair with grey streaks,
she sat there, motionless, dead, still,

Her husband driving, focused on the road,
I could feel her suffering, her longing,
she dreamed of a better life, of happiness,
she felt so depressed, without hope.

She could be all the woman she could be,
no one ever told her, or showed her,
down deep she had hope and dreams once,
what had happened to her life?

How did she arrive at this point?
the road seemed endless, each mile,
becoming longer and longer,
she is a hostage in her world.

There are so many women out there,
ones just like her, fading into the mist,
I wanted to reach out to her, wake her up,
before it was too late, before...

She had disappeared forever,
maybe she had already given up hope?
her face in that truck mirror,
will be one that sticks on my memory,

Somehow the lady in the red truck,
is a direct reflection of us all,
there is still hope, to get out of,
the truck of destiny, and make your own.

Why does this sounds so familiar
"How did she arrive at this point?
the road seemed endless, each mile,
becoming longer and longer,
she is a hostage in her world."

How true is this! Love it, ready to break out now. Like it very much!

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

It's interesting to try to fathom what others might be thinking or feeling just by their facial expression and general body posture. Sometimes we might be accurate, sometimes we may be way off the mark.

indeed ... what 'happens' to all our lives?
[where do the dreams and 'idealism' go ...
  let alone 'love'?!]

much applause for attempting this kind of 'write'!

I love poems that tell a story, even a story as deeply saddening as this. I guess we all have to be careful not to become the lady in the red truck.

A good write.

It is likely inevitable that we all end up (one way or another ...
via time, fate, or random chance) that 'passenger in the red truck'!

A sad one that I think we can all relate too. We are all passengers on the same journey I think.
