Bones shares his room
at the detention center
with a Japanese kid.

He’s the only Japanese kid
at the center.

The other kids call him Chink,
that’s not his real name,
but that’s what
the other inmates call him.

He doesn’t like that name,
but there’s not much
he can do about it,
because he’s a little guy
like Bones.

Bones works in the laundry,
so he can keep his uniform
nice and neat.
Bones likes that.

Chink works in the kitchen,
so he has access
to stainless steel silverware.

Chink shows Bones
a table spoon
that Chink has managed
to steal.

He has honed the spoon
to a razor sharp edge.

Chink gives a demonstration
by using the spoon
to shave off
a patch of peach fuzz
on Bones arm.

That kind of sets
the pecking order,

Chink is Bones boss.

A stark, cold, chilling narrative that nonetheless slices its way through the reader's mind and touches his heart.

This is getting good.
I can see what's coming.
I am glad Bones has found a good friend he doesn't have that many.

Thanks Eric,

I'm pleased the poem worked for you.

Yes, it is always good for Bones to have a real friend, and not just the creeps that use him.

Bobby
