Lovely, Linda.

I've often felt that pines have a rather monastic feel to them. They look a little like the spires of gothic churches, don't they?

Never sigh for a better world, it's already composed, played and told.

Suncleaver ~

Guess what! I had written another stanza and it was about how the spruce trees looked like church spires reaching up into heavenly blue skies! ~ but I decided that I wanted the trees to be pines, instead! lol

Suthern One ~

I could never leave my pine forests! Even as a small girl, I would roam them all by myself up in Northern Ontario. I would build tree forts and would squirrel food away in them ~ like nuts, berries and wild mushrooms that I would forage for. My Dad used to teach me survival skills and what was edible and what was not. I used to fish the streams for rainbow and brook trout and for perch, pike and pickerel in nearby lakes. I would clean them and panfry them over a campfire that I would build. One of my favourite books was "Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe. I also enjoyed the television series "Swiss Family Robinson".

You may take a girl out of the forest, but you can't take the love of the forest out of the girl! I'm glad my poem brought some 'pine' memories back to you, my friend!

Love & Tree Light,
Linda

Hi Linda, When I was a little girl, I roamed the forest also and I love the pines,
which always reminded me of church spires as well. In fact, I once wrote a poem called
"God's Temple" with the lines
"Regal pines soared skyward
like a great cathedral's spires."
There's a beauty and serenity about the forest that can't be found anywhere else.

Yo dear Linda,

This is a nice tanka.

I'm sure many find peace in solitude.  It would drive me out of my skin.

Dear Angel,

I love your imagery here, but speaking from experience: long periods of solitude are not always a good thing.

Dear Linda Angelo Terrestre, with pine trees all around you would not really be alone, they are wonderful spirit partners, aren't they?

Wonderful tanka.

Ideal place for meditation, no doubt!

Love and hugs.

lovely write, but there are many of us who are 'pinists' who would say that pines do indeed make lovely cathedrals please, consider sharing the 'other' stanza

Howdy, my dear reptilian friend! To be perfectly honest, solitude is not something that I have ever had for long periods of time. ~ I can dream! Nah, I'm too social a creature to be "off the grid" for more than a week at a time!

My dear Dolphina, you are so right! I enjoy the meditation silence of being among the whispering pines. I enjoy the quietude and the communing with Nature.

Yes, my dear fellow "pinist", pines can be cathedral-like, as well as spruce trees. It is just that to me, the shape of the latter appear more spire-like, to me.
I love evergreesn in all of their splendor!

As for your suggestion of me sharing the other stanza that I had been working on, it is now past the editing window, so perhaps I shall finish it and post it at a later date.

Thank you so much for your sweet response to my Tanka!

Love & Piny Light,
Linda
