God’s Palette
by Linda L. Dowd

Tones of earthy colours,
are mixed with cobalt blues.
God paints us from His palette,
of Earth and Heaven hues.

Magenta aspirations
with splashes of rustic taupe.
Dashes of pinks and indigos,
and purple strokes of hope.

Dreams in pastel peaches,
with squeezes of lemon-lime,
Aquamarine from spirit seas,
Gold and greens sublime.

Reds of fire and passion,
Blues that calm the soul.
Silver protects and lifts us,
Orange brings joy to whole.

Upon an untouched canvas,
with Spirit tincts He painted.
Creating art ~ from divine Spark,
~ Unsullied and untainted.

The auras from these pigments,
bring Light to darkest spaces.
~ If one is true to Origin,
and reflects His love and graces.

A kaleidoscope of colours,
lays before our eyes.
~ From gardens bright with flowers
~ To swirling, sorbet skies.

We all are works in progress,
~ Each one’s a work of art.
A corona-painted canvas,
~ For of God, we are a part.

Tones of earthy colours,
are mixed with cobalt blues.
God paints us from His palette
of Earth and Heaven hues.

Linda,

When I first started writing in the Poetry Workshop with Balladeer he had us write a poem about colors.  This is among the best of any I read that his students wrote.  I love it.

God made the colors, but He gave you the talent to show us His artistic nature.

Love,
Alison

Hello Earth Angel,

This was quite a pleasant read. The first time through, your powerful "purple strokes of hope" keenly caught my attention, but upon re-reading I became more aware of your skillful usage of alliteration, which I particularly admire and encourage. Nicely written, such truthful sentiment and how colorfully composed!

I look forward to reading more of your creative work.

You never cease to amaze me Linda.

Your wonder and joy at both the material and spiritual leaves me dumbfounded.

I have never heard colors described so beautifully as you have relayed them to us all for us to enjoy. That is a keeper for sure my sweet Canadian Princess. Magnificent
Love you.

Good morning, Eric! I believe that having the word "ALIVE" ascribed to a poem of mine, may be a first! ~ and I love firsts! ~ Well, at least 'good' firsts! ~ of which this most definitely is one! Merci beaucoups, mon ami!

Yann the Man ~

I ususally try to avoid using 'colourful language' (angels aren't supposed to use profanities ), but in the writing of this poem, I was going for the most colourful language I could come up with ~ literally! lol

Margherita que bonita ~

My fascination with colour began with my very first Paint-by-number kit. I also could see auras (the colours of the energy fields surrounding us). I thought that everybody could see them. I now know that this is a special gift and treat it likewise.

This ability lead me into both the healing arts and into the creative arts.

Thank you again, for yet another touching response to a poem of mine!

Thank you, Claire, for your kind and generous reply.

Aha! You noticed my use of alliteration! I suppose that is my musician's ear at play!

Serene One ~

Greetings and felicitations, dear Karen!

I loved that movie "What Dreams May Come"!!! ~ and I too, was both "scared" and "uplifted" by it!

Here's a curious aside, that you may find interesting. Do you recall the "Cheer" slogan that was used for years, "Cheer makes white things white, and bright things brighter"? Well, my grandmother's sister Louise (my middle name)coined that phrase. She won a contest to come up with a slogan for that laundry product. Even today, there are still commercials using different versions of her slogan. i.e. ~ "If you want your white things white and your bright things brighter..."

May all your dreams ~ be they day or night ~ be in technicolour!

Love & Light,
Linda

Here's another unusual colour (British/Canadian spelling for color) and that is puce ~ but I don't like the sound of it! lol

Thanks for dropping by!

A beautiful piece, the first three stanza, especially, with all their internal music of assonance and alliterations.

Dearest Linda,
I like how your mind works and how in tune it is with your heart. Truly lovely sentiments that you have expressed and I love the picture as God's nature always touches me, and now your words too.
