The gardener came today and did a nice job on the yard, except for one little thing that caught me a bit off guard. He trimmed the willow tree. What a sight to see! It looked like he used a bowl. I guess he didn't know so I had to say, "Please don't trim the willow, It's supposed to look that way. Ida |

Poor tree. I wonder if it is embarrassed like dogs are when they get a bad cut. A |

I'm coming over to your place and I'm gonna put a bowl over that gardener's head. THEN me and you's gonna give him a trim. I'll hold him while you have the fun with the shears. DEAL? Willow weep for me. Love it. Eric |

I really oughtta be in bed... But yer title got me--I was just asking a neighbor, whose porch is covered in those fuzzie willow wanderings, "Y'mean there's a TREE left?" and yup, there is indeed, a willow, weeping her fuzzies like a boa gone bad! *laughing* I had no idea it was there either. (The grass is that high.) *smackin' ya five* I have special fondness for the willows. Thank you. |

Hi Karen, I shouldn't be up either but here I am. I planted that tree because I just love willow trees but I don't think I ever saw one trimmed like that before (it was blushing) I used to do all my own yardwork but because of the arthritis I have to hire a gardener to do the heavy stuff now and it drives me a little crazy sometimes because I would prefer to do it my way. Well, since yer still up, (and I am too) I wanna wave HEY to everybody and nope, it isn't MY grass that is high, nor am I high on the grass (who can afford dat stuff?) grin...but anyhow... Yep, there's a willow on the corner lot, and she's weeping those fuzzies everywhere. I just didn't know where they were coming from...smile...so sue me for magickal thinking? I thought I was dancing in those bending branches again. We had a weeper of a willow in my yard when I was a kid, and it was very magickal to me, to be under that umbrella of leaves in the summer. (And caterpillers love a willow too, but I learned very early on that if you're gentle with them, they are gentle with YOU, and...) oy I'm supposed to be in bed. You do bring me back Aunt Ida. and oh no..I lost an hour too! heh |

My word, a gardener should know that a weeping willow sweeps the lawn as its branches sway in a whispering breeze. Sheesh, he isn't worth his weight in topsoil! Well, as with any bad haircut, at least we know it's going to grow back! Linda |

I suggest, dear Ida, that you go and caress every single branch, if you can still reach them, to make the tree recover from the shock. I understand that you were upset! ((((Ida)))) You conveyed strong emotion with this! Love, Margherita |

Yo dear Ida, This is a well written poem. For some reason, willow trees, and hickory trees give me bad dreams. Love Bobby |

growing up we had no need for gardeners nor trimming of our trees...my brother and I kept them pared by our more than daily acquiring of our 'switches', for not only did my mother insist on using a switch, but she had us choose our own for the disciplining ...nice write |

My dear Ida, willow trees are one of my favourites. I have an uncut hedge of willows, golden, corkscrew, pussy willow and the normal green weeping willow. I planted them ten years ago when we started our retirement and never cease to admire them everytime we go out. I loved your poem. Take dear Lady. Love Lindsay |

Marchmadness - a willow tree, one of my favorites. I can only picture how it was trimmed, hope it wasn't too badly... BC |
