Carpentry of the Mind

like the finish of a trim
on the mantle-piece of imagination
a slight of hand seemlessly
belies the joinery of contemplation

smoothing the textures soft
like the sanding of an extra-fine grit
while thoughts emerge as stain-filled words
exposing the mastery of their fit

and the words read awl in special awe
choice, one and all, from the carpenter's hand
garnered from the toolbox of self-experience
sawing through the walls of ideas planned

when words on the page are the carpentry of the mind
furniture-quality skill is what you will find

Some great metaphorical gems in this one Steavan.

"Sleight of hand" comes to my mind but it's hardly important.

Karilea is a source of inspiration. She's contributed to this site for as long as I have been here and I don't know how long previous.

Very clever write Steavan.

Steaven,

Now you've made me blush and
not at all surprisingly, you
brought a tear of joy as well.

Thank you so much for being thus
"inspired"...this is a
for my library.

Nicely done! Grand use of metaphor, and a fine treat for Lady Sunshine.

Dear Steaven, how absolutely beautiful this is! Both, Karilea's and yours, are treasures.

Now, that I think about it, I realize how true this is. Yep, we are carpenters of our mind.
