"I think I'll paint the sky, maudlin"
she reclined, considering.
"The walls should be that not-quite-white
with traces of the blues within..."

He ducked the exhale of her smoke
which painted those walls nicotine.
"Maudlin's not a color, love.."
and so she clamped his head between

her thighs, when he dove deep.

"Sure it is, a color, yes..."
he sat up and he feigned interest:
"What color do you see it as?"
"I see it as enlightened puce."

"Puce?" he tried to dive again,
and met himself with no access.
"Puce." She said decisively.
Nodding as she acquiesed.

"A muted color of wet wounds--
like wine and time and whet.
The lashes of the eyes that bleed
from chemotherapy and 'yes'..."

He nodded as he dove again,
thinking she was satisfied
with his answer and his grin--
as she opened up inside.

"I think I'll need some primer, too."
She laughed before she sighed,

"Would you roll that on for me?"
She grabbed his hair and nodded "yes"

as she doused her cigarette,
content with possibility

laughing at the sparks.

ooooh snap!  I got kissed!

I'm not a student, I have no friends, you look too human to be my mom, and my penis is too small to be yours.  I'm confident that we don't know eachother.

won't the sun offset the maudlin?

an enlightened puce.  nice.  Is it odd that I think dark and enlightenment are redundant?

I am certainly glad I stopped by this morning.  I feel nourished.

"enlightened puce"
Karen, it's amazing what you do with words and images, how you can tweak them and the reader.

smile, thanks for the indulgence.

And now? I'm feeling fairly finicky today.

I'm not sure if I wanna stay in and eat a tuna sandwich, or go paint the town...red.

Thanks again, folks. I love ya bunches.

I wasn't reading this closely enough...then, oh, my it began to sink in and I was too far along to stop and interested enough to continue...I think I'll move on...exceptionally interesting imagery...how's that for being safe...
