Words and tears cover the pages,
but only the tears really speak
of broken hearts, and dreams mislaid;
of words not spoken...
love betrayed...
Emotional hide and seek!

"Far better to have loved and lost"...
brave words...
but not the words for me;
to fall in love, then to deny through circumstance...
to watch love die...
A wormwood destiny!

This cold-eyed mask I choose to show
conceals a flawed and fatal crack
of whispered hopes...
forgotten dreams;
of love affairs that might have been...
Romantic bric-a-brac!

How many tears lie scattered
on the shores of my emotional sea?
The girls adored...
but never touched;
perhaps, I cared for them too much...
My personal purgatory!

Yes, words and tears cover the pages;
soft memories of dreams, long dismissed;
all lost, by chance...
or, by design;
perhaps, next time, love will be kind...
Eternal optimist!
