Only half of all there is
like half a turn, half a yearn,
half a thought, a wish,
comes to one unmindful of
the power of completion.

This power like a furnace burns
to heat up mind’s intent
and send it searching in the rough
for the perfect whole.

I’m rather fond of commas
because maybe there’ll be more
and it’s like I’m finely tuned
to continually anticipate
that blessed other half
until I come to know
a full stop makes a half
completely complete.

I can end most anything
with a simple little dot
but until I dot the “I”
I’m searching in the rough
not destined ere to find
what I’m searching for!

Oh, if only completion were so easy to come by.  I loved your little ode to the period.

tao power - thank you very much.  Maybe "deep" is another word for "meaningful" and meaning can be found most everywhere if the brain is so attuned. May not be correctly attuned but ... blame it on the moon - it was only half the other night but still good enough, yes?

Hi Pilgrimage - I guess it's the resisting of completion that makes it hard and I should know because I'm guilty of that with regard to certain "things".  I can make a dot though if I wish.  Thanks for reading - much appreciated.

Hi, M - Always good to use three dots in between but one completes the process - any process whether it's knowing ourselves or letting go of whatever prevents the start of something new.  Yes, I'm ready to be a one dot woman now that I've finished entertaining the man in the moon.  He's still smiling though so perhaps he knows something that I don't.   Time will tell.

Take care
Helen

Hi, Honey!

"I’m rather fond of commas
because maybe there’ll be more"

~ as well as ellipses ...

Mind you, the period certainly has its place as well! Some beginnings need an ending! PERIOD!!! lol

You have a beautiful, analytical mind, dear Helen!

I also love exclamation, as Larry says! as well as three dots ... completion can occur within the reader's mind. But a dot is a dot is a dot.

Great write!

Love,
Margherita

You are fond of commas...

and I relish my ellipses...

and throughly enjoyed the read!

Lets hear it for the period. That ends for something new, dots the truth, got me thinking, good poem.
