He had dreams of life with me,
even after I left the state,
he didn't want to believe that we
would never be, it was too late.

He tried to save his money
to move up here and get a place,
insisting he call me honey,
said he couldn't wait to see my face.

Then I told him I got married
and I found out from a friend
all his dreams then miscarried
and he brought his life to end.

So here I sit in this guilt,
feels like a bullet in my mind
after crumbling the dreams he built
I may as well just be confined

the heart I broke, life up in smoke,
the lover that I left behind.

Hey PS
You have no reason to feel guilty.
He obviously wasn't mentally able to handle losing you.
You didn't give birth to his mental defects. He was simply a product of this life where things go wrong sometimes.
Yes, it's sad, of course it's sad just like this poem.
However, it's not your fault.

Hey, that's only if this is a true story/poem.....(smile)...

Good write.

You can't be responsible for the fragility of another.  But it would be a real shock for something like that to happen, I fully understand that.  The poem shows his instability, and your feelings, well.

ms Dixie..for every one we love there are a few we don't make the meld with...it is like the days of the year, some rain and some are sunny...but we can't blame the sky.

enjoyed your words

This is so sad Dixie, you can not blame yourself though, you were not happy, if you were you would have stayed, we can not see into other peoples minds or do for them everything that they want, days are lived and choices are make. Live each day the best that you can my friend, I hope that fate brings good things to you now.
