"Come to bed," she softly said...
"It was a dream... as you can see;
but, Mummy's bed is big and warm...
and you'll be safe and snug with me."

"Come to bed," she softly said...
"Now go and put away your toys.
It's nine o'clock... there's school tomorrow.
It's too late for little boys."

"Come to bed," she softly said...
"This party's getting boring, now.
My parents are away, tonight...
and, I have always fancied you."

"Come to bed," she softly said...
her silk gown whispering to the floor.
Warm and delighting... eyes inviting...
reaching back... I close the door.

"Come to bed," she softly said...
so, up the stairs I carefully creep,
so, as not to wake the kids...
then...
"Goodnight love...
let's get some sleep."

"Come to bed," she softly said...
"And, bring my book up, if you would."
Fifty years, we've been together...
I've been lucky... it's been good.

"Come from your bed," she softly said...
Her spreading wings... a brilliant glow.
"Your time on earth has run its course...
come, take my hand...
It's time to go."

warning. It's only fair to put one in your title if you insist on making me cry!

a tissue alert...something....warn a girl before you pull all her heart strings at once

A wonderful, wonderful write.  I am touched.

I guess we're all a bunch of cry babies but this is just so beautiful and touching.

Ladies are quite entitled to be cry-babies... that's what makes them so enchanting.
Thank you ladies... it makes all this scribbling worthwhile.

this would make a great country ballad.  It is very well written.  have you ever tried putting it to music?

This is extraordinary.
