In shattered halls I saw empty peace be contrived
Scant hours after I'd stood and watched them die,
They justified sin with the sophistry of need
And for their children planted hate's demon seed.

The bloodied tombs of the brave whom they sacrificed
For a liar's dream never realised,
The ones who fell and bled their life's blood on the snow,
How ill used they were they will never know

Raphael reached out his hand but they turned away
They said 'Now we kill, heal another day',
Can my golden tears ever wash away their guilt?
Is this how the tombs of nations are built?


I would like to apologise for my long absence, I haven't been able to read and comment on other people's poems. My apologies especially go out to my friends Linda, Bill and Bobby. But I have been out of the country for a while dealing with family matters.
