On Monday day I caught my thoughts
and locked them in a paper cage.
I Plucked them from the chaos and
I a pinned them to a yellow page.

On Tuesday day I woke up numb
and spent the day without a care.
A dusty muzzy dizzy head
without an idle thought to spare.

On Wednesday day I bought a thought,
it cost a penny and some time,
but later on I gave it back
the thought was never really mine.

On Thursday day I thought I saw
some worthy thoughts behind a wall
but when I tried to capture them
they fled and left nothing at all.

on Friday day I found a thought
attached to half a mind.
I tried to make it whole again
but only made the thread unwind.

Saturday was just a blur,
a thoughtless page of empty space.
I opened up the paper cage
and wet the skin upon my face.

On Sunday day I gathered thoughts
and packed them all away.
compressed them in a book of lies,
ready for another day.

Perhaps I'll find an in-between, a day between the days
I'll tear the pages from the book and free them from the cage.
I'll set each crowded page alight and watch them as they flare,
like burning trails across the sky, dancing on excited air.
I'll throw each burning thoughtless page into the windy night
and watch them as they turn to ash
out of mind and out of sight.

Hi ya Funny Bones,

Welcome to PIP, I like your name.

Hmmmm.

Well, you could do what I do. When I've finished scribbling on my paper copy
of a finished poem, I used to slide it into the top slot of my paper shreader.

But, now that the shreader burned out, I simply deposit the poem in "Open Poetry #44"
at the top of my computer screen and watch it scroll down the page.....
