Raise one fist high and shout "black pride"
and all the nation is with you.
But if you're white and you voice your pride
they'll likely turn against you.

Bring us your tired and your poor
and by our human grace be saved
as we build walls along the border
to keep mexicans at bay.

You must learn to respect your mother, son
Remember this lesson well.
Now tell that cow if supper aint done
then Im gonna ring her bell.

"blessed are the peacemakers"
are the words of Jesus Christ
Yet millions have raised swords for Him
and have slaughtered countless lives.

The words we speak lack meaning
and the ways we feel as well.
only actions project our beings
only work will make us well.

I beg to differ. Millions have raised swords for religious leaders, political leaders, kings, dictators etc.etc. all of whom have used the name of Jesus to infect the masses with their fever for power. However, they have done it by posing as Angels of light making thier image appear like saviours similiar to Jesus and using their interpretation of injustice to acquire thier own selfish ends.
Consequently catholics have murdered catholics, protestants have murdered protestants in many wars over the centuries.
All of whom have claimed that God is on their side.
Logically thinking I hardly believe God takes sides with these legalized pirates of fortune. I believe they disgust God and his son Jesus.
Freedom of choice belongs to all, otherwise we would be nothing other than puppets and I don't believe that's true. What would be the purpose of living.

Just before he was put to death Jesus said, "my kingdom is no part of this world, otherwise my attendants would have fought to protect me."

Very easy for religionists and politicians to use emotional vehicles like religion and seeming injustices to sway the thinking of the people to slaughter one another.
Isn't it peculiar that the leaders of these suicide bombers never strap a bomb to their side and blow up innocent people. Neither do politicians and religionists take up arms and fight in the front lines of the wars.......Oh, there is a few isolated cases but for the most part they are killing thier own by sending them out to a bloodguilty demise. Always to achieve some power hungry political goal.

Just my humble opinion. I agree with you poem by the way ....Mostly.....(smile)...

There is a tragic disconnect between the message of love "love your neighbor as you love yourself" and "Blessed are the peacemakers" over and against the "ideology" of religious beliefs that have lead to bloody creed wars over the centuries. You have said this with profound clarity in a very important poem.

Thanks,

And I might add that black pride and white pride and any other pride is probably okay, so long as "superiority" isn't thrown into the mix.

As head of a large multi-racial family, this so called poem offends, and disgusts me.

Bobby I am sorry if you are offended and disgusted.  It was not my intent.  I can't imagine what you find offensive, by the way.
You are entitled to your opinion.

Thanks for commenting.

Hi TP,

This is a well written and thought provoking poem. Some of your premise is flawed
as Eric points out, and I can see Bobby's ire.

Yes, I agree whole heartedly with what you say here. We have ideals we hold our
fellow man to, yet in our daily lives as individuals we often don't apply those
princples to our own life. So what we say (our idiology) is not how we live.
