Halo

Lost in my heart,
lost in my heart
never to be found
lost in my heart,
cost of my art
follow it around

You tell me to kneel
to find out if it's real
truth, in everything I feel
bleeding on shining steel
sharpened, the cold knife of night
stabbing out the pretty sight
of you in the halo of the sun
and all of me you see
all that's left of me
has become numb

We begin to believe
in all who deceive
a lie becomes a relief
perfect, silently shaking in grief
dull the pain that cogs up my mind
blow out the white candles to find
me steering my life with a halo
and look at me here
out of control, I fear
I've nowhere to go

Lost in my heart,
lost in my heart
sink without a sound
lost in my heart,
cost of my art
bringing me down

You tell me it's not real
but I know how I feel
truth, the beauty can heal
the wounds, a broken seal
cut down by the blades of time
show me it can still be mine
you, in the halo of the moon
you're all I want to see
all that's left for me
will leave me soon

Lost all but heart,
lost all but heart
bury it where it'll never be found
lost it all, but my heart
cork tossed and torn apart
leaving me sitting, broken halo in hand
can't even make a sound
no, you'll never understand
no, you'll never understand

"Now if I seem to be afraid
to live the life that I have made in song,
well it's just that I've been losing for so long" -Jackson Browne 'These Days

Well written, but there's something about it that just doesn't seem too right...  Interesting rhyme, though.
