The Distance

Having gone some distance in life,
now each day is a reminder
it's not a race to get ahead
but an opportunity to be kinder
to everyone I come across,
to extend a helping hand,
if nothing but to nod my head
and reassure I understand.

Having begun the journey full of self,
rushing to get what I was owed,
uncaring of all the people passed,
it became a lonely road.

I take my time in walking now
and stop whenever I see one in need,
I have found I'm more fulfilled
producing a kind word or deed.

And all these folks that pass me by...
I know I'll see them again ahead,
they will be the ones to say
"I understand" and nod their head.

Yo Passing shadows,

If everyone would be satisfied with "just surviving", which is all you really need to do, it would be a better world for everyone.

Great write dear Dixie, I find as we grow older we take more time to stop and think and often find that things that you thought

had to be done immediately can still be done tomorrow without any problem.
Enjoyed the post. Love

Very mellow and wise Dixie.
We all have to go the distance no matter what the length so why not do it with this type of mind set.

Superb!

This is a beautiful, insightful write, dear Dixie. To evolve into caring beings is the goal of the Path, just so!

Love and hugs.
