Mom knows
it’s a dangerous hood
to try to raise a kid.

She figures that’s okay,
because it’s the hood she knows,
and the hood knows her.

Her kid will grow up
tough, and mean,
ready to meet the world
head on,
and get the most of it.

Bobby

Mothers almost always know what their children are capable of.
Bones has done his best under the circumstances....

External pressure can turn a lump of coal into a diamond.

Bones may appear a bit rough around the edges, but inside he shines like a diamond.

Unfortunately, the probability that we can predict the future leaves us wanting to change the past.  You never know who your neighbor is or what they are capable of.  Child predictors are everywhere. People who prey on the weak are everywhere.

She feels the solidarity of the hood and trusts. No life, not even in the areas considered maybe more "safe", is a life without risks and dangers to be coped with.
Dangers of a different kind maybe, but we all walk on glass ...

You made me think, dear Bobby. Thank you.

Love,
Margherita

It is good, Bobby, that mom has confidence that Bones can cope in a dangerous world. It is a miserable experience feeling that your kid is not equipped. I have three, and they made it in a tough environment where refusing to give in to certain temptations was danger in itself. This is not a commentary on kids whose lives went in other directions.

Thanks dear Juju,

It's good we don't have peole like that in our hood.  There are too many kids here, and bad people would be taken care of fast.

Thanks Art,

Thankfully, the kids in this rough hood are all okay.  I have no complaints.

It's good to hear your kids did good.
