After all these years
he knows
(he asked the kids)
"What does mamma like?"
my daughter sniffing at the books
and picked for me the Iliad
leather and the gold-leaf edge
with a silken ribbon spun
to mark the place I had begun

after

    all

       these years

he knows...

my odyssey revealed.

Ahhh, Witchy woman
A fine gather of words you have
A siren call that I’ll not wax my ears for
Since it goes right to the thought.

Oh, Karen!

But he did inspire you to grace us with your impactful presence here and the gift of your uniquely thought provoking words!

We all have our own odyssey itineraries, no doubt!

Love,

.. he knows and I love that he cares.

Know what I mean?  Thank you for being the second one to break my vow not to read Valentine's poems this year.  Sheese.  What does this say about my ability to remain strong?

Karen...How grand to have a daughter that knows and someone who knew enough to ask her.  What a lovely gift!

Yah, but he knows enough to check his ego at the door and ask.  Gotta love that.

You absolutely made my day today, I could have predicted where this was going from the title.   Well, you know you have my heart right?

Thank God for daughters. If I had your talent I could have written this.

I just wanted to pop in and give quick hugs and thank you's...

and the line, "after all these years he knows"

well, that's me and my daughters secret smile...'cause y'see, my husband used to ride in the carnival Krewe of Ulysses.

He had no idea who Ulysses was, the connection to the Odyssey, and so forth.

You would think they would explain that stuff at the meetings, but nooooooooo...

I was just proud that my kids could explain it to him. *smile*

Happy Mardi Gras, everyone!

I think it's part of our city's dubious charm that most folks think the Gods were named after our parades--and not the other way around.

And just so you all know, I was not laughing at my husband for not knowing that stuff either.

If you ask him who played bass guitar on some obscure solo R&B album, he can tell you that. I have learned that everybody is a genius about something.

Now let me go dust off my blue fuzzy "pimp" hat. Y'catch more shtuff if you dress up a little.

And OH--if anyone is watching the parades on the mardi gras cams? I want you all to know that the well-endowed fairy that shows up at nearly every parade is a personal friend of mine. (She's rather well-known locally.)

If you worship her properly she grants wishes.

Sometimes I stand next to her and yell, "throw them something Mister" while pointing to her chest.

I'm having a blast.

Thanks and love to all.
