I felt a heart beat in my womb
That marked the pulse of time
The rhythm of this sacred room
Defined a child of mine

It was a mirror to the past
A sound pure and divine
The blood that filled a little heat
Passed through this heart of mine

The lifeline of my ancestry
To which I have been heir
Will weave the sinews of her heart
And ribbons in her hair

Beat, little heart, your thumping sound
Through head and hand and limb
An infant’s breath is soon to silence
Every angel hymn

Hello there stranger. This is nice, makes me wonder what it would be like.
Nice write

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Liz, I adored the first 4 lines ~

"I felt a heart beat in my womb
That marked the pulse of time
The rhythm of this sacred room
Defined a child of mine"

~ and every line that followed thereafter.

Yours is a very loving mother's heart.
~ and your pen expresses it so beautifully.

Love & Mother/Baby Light,
Linda

I have no heartbeat in my womb
It's been replaced with the cacophony of all the beating of the world
But I remember that first beat still.

Yo Elizabeth,

I love this.  I used to listen through my wife stomach for all my kids' heartbeats.

This is a lovely poem.

Love Bobby

Excellent expression Elizabeth.....You're still on top of the poetic emotional picture writing.
