It’s ten o’clock,
and time for Bones
to hit the street,
go to work.

Mom’s having
one of her yelling spells.

He’s glad to be out of the flat.

There’s a new light bulb
on their landing,
it makes it easier to see
the steps that are missing,
and to avoid the piles of poop
left by those new kids
just in from the country.

God bless them
with their noise
and antics.

They’ll come along
and learn to use
the overflowing crapper
down the hall.

It’s only a matter of time.

Everyone eventually
catches on.

Bobby

I like this Bobby, it is both sad and funny cause of poop.

Sometimes the line between "animal" and human gets fuzzy. Without expressly saying it, you've said it in poetry of harsh reality---I like it!

Thanks Yann,

For reading and commenting.

Well, you know how it goes.

Somehow Bones and I didn't find it that amusing.

Thanks Art,

I'm pleased the poem worked for you.

Take my word for it, none of us were animals.  Some were just a little bit unsophisticated.

I agree, Bobby---just a comment on behavior.

Thanks.

Everywhere Bones turns there's some sort of stress. No wonder he has to be strong inside, it's all he's got to depend on, inner strength.

Yo Art,

I understand Buddy.  Poor, city tenement life is I think new to many.

Thanks Eric,

You've nailed it.  Bones was a good guy.

Thanks dear Juju,

Yes, it's something to be avoided.  However, you know what they say "poo happens".

Bobby - I know Bones has had it difficult, but growing up with difficulties make one a stronger person, that is if one makes it to grown up...

Thanks Bill,

What you say is very true.  However, as I'm sure you know, everyone does not make it to grown up.
